Cape Number Plates Fundraiser
Our Lady of the Cape Primary School (OLC) in Dunsborough launched a major fundraising project by releasing a new series of local number plates.
The number plates feature “CAPE” in a teal colour with the words “Wadandi Boodja – Cape Naturaliste” displayed underneath.
The acknowledgement of the Wadandi, the traditional owners of the region, was done in consultation with local Wadandi custodian Josh Whiteland, who has also been working closely with OLC to develop cultural learning opportunities for students.
“This is an important fundraiser for OLC, with funds raised going towards new nature-based playgrounds – something our students are very excited about”, School Advisory Council Chair, Craig Saunders said.
Funds raised through number plate sales will go towards new nature-based playgrounds for Our Lady of the Cape Primary School with Josh providing guidance on the representation of the indigenous seasons in the playgrounds.
About the Fundraising Project
The new playground, Koolanga Mia was officially opened in December 2022 at OLC. It was funded primarily from the CAPE number plates fundraiser, as well as generous donations from local businesses and families.
It is anticipated that the additional funds raised from the CAPE number plates fundraiser will go towards playground upgrades in the junior area of the school, with works expected to commence in 2024.
